REFERRING VETERINARIANS

Welcome to Crossroads Veterinary Hospice! We are dedicated to palliative and hospice care that is focused on providing the best quality of life throughout our mutual patient’s end of life journey. Our team will assess the patient and their home environment, help the family identify realistic goals with the resources they have available, and make recommendations to improve their quality of life. We also educate families on end-of-life planning: natural death vs. euthanasia, body care options, crisis management, and grief.

Crossroads will communicate with you, our client’s trusted veterinarian, through every step of this journey. Our office will send reports after each quality of life and/or hospice consultation to keep you knowledgeable about the care we are recommending and providing.

We love fostering collaborative relationships with you to provide our mutual clients and patients with the very best in diagnostic and treatment options. Whenever it is possible, we will refer clients back to you for continued preventative medicine, diagnostics, and surgery.

After each hospice consultation Dr. Ellen will make recommendations to the client based on her expert knowledge in pain management and comfort care. Sometimes these recommendations may entail discontinuing medications/therapies you have previously prescribed and often entail prescribing new medications/therapies. When these are unfamiliar or seemingly counterintuitive to your area of expertise, preventative and life preserving medicine, lets discuss these recommendations so that we can mutually provide continuity of care.
